Another fun little eight-legged carnivorous arthropod. That we see from time to time is this one.
Euscorpius is a genus of scorpions, commonly called small wood-scorpions. It presently contains 17 species and is the type genus of the family Euscorpiidae - long included in the Chactidae - and the subfamily Euscorpiinae.
The most common members belong to the E. carpathicus species complex, which makes up the subgenus Euscorpius. This group is widespread from North Africa and Spain to temperate Eurasia from England and northern France through the Czech Republic to Russia.

The species range in colour from yellow-brown to dark brown. Many are brown with yellow legs and stinger. The largest is E. italicus at 5 cm (2 in), and the smallest is E. germanus at 1.5 cm (0.6 in). The poison of Euscorpius species is generally very weak, with effects similar to a mosquito bite.

(Buthus occitanus)
With small claws and a thick tail, this a very venomous species, typical of the Scorpion family Buthidae. In Europe there is a less venomous brown morph of this species, while the yellow morph that originates in Africa and is among the most poisonous species in the world.
Scolopendra or giant centipede These are found in southern spain and have a nasty bite. I know this from personal experience. They like to live in dark places and you often find them as you demolish old buildings. Sometimes found in the house especially in bathrooms. Do not touch.
We always keep a small box in the house just in case we get any unwelcome insects. How you get them in the box is up to you. P.s Take Care they move like lightning.
Creepy Crawlies

Mosquitos
Mosquitos are little B******s you can't see them you can't hear them and you don't feel them bite you until its too late.
They breed in still water and there is a lot of this about in the countryside because of uncovered water deposits.
They become a problem after the sun goes down until dawn.
There are various products on the market that claim to stop them biting, but hardly any are effective. However, we have found a product from Avon called Skin so Soft which prevents them from biting. There is a whole range of Skin so Soft products and all work well against this horrible insect.
We have found that if you live in the Countryside you have more of a problem with mosquitos, especially if you live in close proximity to a polytunnel (invernadero) than if you live near the coast.
If you need more information then I can recommend a Collins publication "Complete Mediterranean Wildlife" by Paul Sterry. It covers all wildlife including wild flowers and insects, with colour photographs. If you are interested please look in our book shop.
