Car hire is a necessity if you need to view properties along the south coast of Spain.
Finding the best deal can be time consuming and expensive on your phone bill, this is why I have found the most used car hire firms and I have placed some of the links here for your convenince. These companies have depots in all the major airports along the coast and in the U.K.

The road infrastructure in Spain is getting better each year. New motorways are opening all the time, a new motorway is under construction from Malaga to Almeria. At this time it is usable from Malaga to La Heradura then you return to the old A road until you reach La Rabita Then the motorway continues to Almeria.
Some of the roads in the countryside are unmade tracks and in the winter can become difficult to use unless you have a four wheel drive.
If you are thinking of finding a property in the countryside then you may need a four wheel drive. Booking early is a must due to demand if you require a 4*4.
If you don't want to run to the cost of a four wheel drive, a Renault Kangoo is a good alternative because it has good ground clearance.
